Labels for Education
Many educational institutions use soup (and other designated) labels to "purchase" support items for the work that they do. For many years, ULC has been sending its labels to Bethesda Lutheran Home in Watertown, Wisconsin—a residence facility for the developmentally disabled. In 2004, Bethesda used its labels (which came from all 50 states) to purchase $145,000 worth of equipment for residents and facilities. A wide variety of items from these Campbell divisions are eligible for this program: Campbell’s®, Franco-American®, Pepperidge Farm®, Swanson®, Market Day®, V8® beverages, Prego® Pasta sauces, Campbell’s® Foodservice. Clip the UPC on most items (no longer the front label as in the past). For a few items such as Prego and V-8, save the lid. For food service items, save the UPC from the outer case. Note that bonus labels have been replaced with a UPC with the number of points on it. If a UPC does not have points listed, it is worth one point. It is requested that the bonus UPCs be kept separate from the regular UPCs. See the information handout on the plastic drawers in the narthex or go to
http://www.labelsforeducation.com/.

Box tops (or labels) for Education Program
Clip the Box Top for Education from General Mills and other food products, and send them along with the Campbell Soup Labels in a separate envelope or baggie. These labels are for the two ELCA K -5/6 schools in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and are worth 10 cents each. This enables schools to purchase items not within their operating budgets.

Unused Greeting Cards
Donations of unused greeting cards with matching envelopes are collected and shipped to the
Lutheran Social Services of Michigan Action Thrift Shop in Saginaw, where they are sold at a nominal cost. They use the profits from the store to support their many projects.

Unused Toiletries
Soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. are collected in Nov.- Dec. and distributed to Meals-on-Wheels at Christmas by the Amnos Circle. Extra items are given to the Council Against Domestic Assault or Haven House.

Items may be left at the Social Action collection center in the back of the narthex near the elevator.
