Campus Ministry at ULC Campus Ministry at ULC is affiliated with the ELCA Lutheran Campus Ministry and the Lutheran Student Movement (LSM) -USA.
The Christian community that gathers on campus is anchored in worship that is centered in the grace and reconciliation of Jesus Christ. Here the Word and Sacraments remind young adults on campus of their baptism and affirm them as persons. Lutheran staff and students take seriously the opportunity to share this good news more boldly with others In academic settings that are intellectually rigorous, emotionally volatile and spiritually engaging, this community of believers provides a place for faith to be challenged by the study of scripture and enlightened by the Spirit. Students hear the call to faithful discipleship and learn to serve the needs of others in the larger world. Through experiences in creative ministry and volunteer service, students who are active leaders in the church on campus today provide competent, enthusiastic, trained leadership for the church for years to come. A Lutheran Ministry on Campus is rooted in the gathered community that celebrates in Christ-centered worship, is challenged by scripture enlightened by the Spirit and informed by our confessional heritage and is connected with Christians in the wider world, committed to sharing faith more boldly and serving others as vocation is lived out to the glory of God’s name.

LSM is a Pan-Lutheran (including Missouri Synod, Wisconsin Synod and ELCA) organization of college students nationwide. It is also part of the Lutherans Concerned/North America Reconciling in Christ program. It is a student-led organization active at the local, regional, and national level created to promote the active participation of students in the life and mission of the Lutheran Church on their campuses, in their communities, and as individuals. The Lutheran Student Association of America (LSAA, formed in 1922) and many students previously involved with Delta Gamma (formed in 1928 and sponsored by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod) came together in 1969 to create LSM-USA. We are called by the grace of God and nurtured in a community built around Word and Sacrament. We, the Lutheran Student Movement -USA, join together to serve God and minister in Christ's name. Through this ministry and in the Lutheran tradition of reform, we explore social and spiritual concerns and accept the challenge to unite with all the people of God. LSM & ULC The campus ministry at ULC participates in several LSM events each year both regionally, and nationally. LSM is broken up into 12 regions across the country. Our region is IMOK - Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Kentucky. The IMOK region holds two weekend retreats each year - one fall semester, and one spring semester. The retreats are held at camps within the region, and are hosted by one of the attending universities. The annual National LSM Gathering is held over the New Year's holiday in different cities across the country. It's a time of fun, spiritual development, and discernment. The ULC campus ministry travels to the four day gathering to meet and share worship and fellowship with Lutheran students from all over the country. Every four years, LSM participates in an ecumenical gathering which includes other denominations such as Roman Catholic, United Methodist, United Church of Christ, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Episcopal, and Presbyterian(USA). In the past few years, gatherings have been held in San Antonio, San Diego, and New Orleans. Students from our campus ministry who attend are subsidized by campus ministry to make it affordable for everyone to attend. Click for more information on Lutheran Student Movement.
