Care and Share
ULC provides many options for you to carry Christ's love into the Greater Lansing, Michigan and even world community.
Opportunities to give of our time to our local and world community ...
Throughout the year, various ULC groups coordinate service opportunities throughout the Greater Lansing area. Recent events have included the Ronald McDonald House, a soup kitchen, Bike Repair Day, Cookie Lift, Rebuilding Together and Thrivent Builds/Habitat for Humanity. Check the calendar or the Lux newsletter for upcoming service events.
Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. During the past several years, ULC has helped to build HFH houses in the Lansing area. During the past few years ULC has joined other area Lutheran congregations to obtain a Thrivent Builds Homes grant and complete an "all-Lutheran built" home. Find out more about this years HFH project...
The Rebuilding Together program is a one-day home repair blitz for low-income elderly or low-income persons with disabilities. The program is coordinated through the Tri-County Office on Aging and is provided at no cost to Ingham county homeowners. For over ten years, ULC has assembled a team of workers to participate in this program. The work varies, but has included tasks such as painting, replacing windows and doors, clearing trash, general cleaning and preparing and serving lunch for the work crew.
Prayers & Squares
Can you touch a prayer? Can you pull it close and feel its comfort? You can if it's part of a prayer quilt. Learn more about the ULC Prayers & Squares quilt ministry and how you can participate.
International Student Ministry
The International Friendship House is a place where international students and their families can make new friends and practice conversational English. Their goal is to help the international student and family members experience American culture, make significant friendships and adjust to life in the U.S. The ministry is supported by several Lansing area Lutheran congregations and MSU organizations, including ULC. See how you can support the International Student Ministry.

Outreach of the Month
Each month a different outreach program is highlighted by the congregation for a special collection. Congregation members are educated about the target ministry through an article in the Lux newsletter and occasionally a display in the narthex. Special outreach offering envelopes are available in the pew racks each month. See the list of current Outreach of the Month ministries.
Social Action Collections
ULC has a history of collecting items to support needs both locally and around the world. These collections are coordinated by the Social Action Team. Some of the collections are ongoing while some are highlighted at special times of the years. Find out more about our current social action collections.
